How we compare fuel prices
Every hour between 7:00 and 23:00 we read the prices each fuel company publishes on its website and store every change. The table above compares the standard pump price — the price at a regular, staffed station — because that is the one every company publishes. Where a company sells more than one product of a type (for example two kinds of super), we compare its cheapest one and show the product name when you hover over the price.
Fuel types
- Regular (92–93) — the cheapest petrol, suitable for most older and many everyday cars.
- Premium (95–96) — the most common choice for modern petrol engines.
- Super (98–100) — for high-performance and turbocharged engines that require it.
- Diesel and premium diesel — premium diesels are each company's branded fuel with additives; regular diesel is the standard fuel at a lower price.
- LPG and CNG — liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas for converted vehicles, sold at some stations.
Cheaper than the pump price
Many companies offer lower prices at self-service pumps, with their loyalty card, or when paying in their app. Open a company's page to see all of its prices, current offers and how it compares with the market average.
Price history
The chart shows each company's price day by day and the market average once at least three companies report. Use it to see whether prices are rising or falling before you fill up — or to check how a company's prices moved over the past year.
