Public holidays in Georgia
The list of days off is set by article 30 of the Labour Code. Most are fixed dates; the four Easter days — Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday — move every year with the Orthodox Easter. Family Sanctity Day on 17 May was added in 2024, bringing the total to 18 days.
When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, no weekday is given in its place. Besides the days in the Labour Code, the government can declare extra days off by decree, usually announced shortly before.
What is open
Banks, government offices and public service halls close on public holidays, and many businesses do too. Most shops, supermarkets, restaurants and sights stay open, often with shorter hours. The busiest periods are the New Year days, Orthodox Christmas and Easter — plan travel and appointments around them.
